Surbhi Dhingra, Vth Batch student is currently working with the World Bank as a Social Development Specialist in the South Asia Sustainable Development Department in New Delhi Office. She has worked on several assignments and key projects like designing toolkit on livelihood Development Plan for the Urban Poor' to support Swarma Jayanti Shahri Rojgar Yojana (SJSRY), prepared Concept note and questionnaire for the conduct of Urban BPL Census for the "Expert Group to Recommend the Detailed Methodology for Identification of Families living Below Poverty Line in the Urban Areas" set-up by the Planning Commission under the Chairpersonship of Prof. S.R. Hashim, Ex-Member, Planning Commission and recently Prepared draft Mission Document of "National Urban Livelihoods Mission". The document is pending approval of the Hon'ble Minister (HUPA & Culture).
Hareesh S Belawadi, IVth Batch student is the founding Partner at Zonar Enterprises LLP - a Consulting, Technology & Services provider based at Bangalore. His business partner Harish Belli is a 2002 batch PGDEM from EDI. Zonar is a 2011 start-up and is still evolving. Their Consulting Division has begun to engage in specific areas of Development and Management Consulting. The Technology Division currently provides Computer Networking Solutions to SMEs. The Services Division offers Sourcing Services to a few Education & Healthcare institutions. After completing the course from EDI, Hareesh joined Gujarat based NGO Cohesion Foundation leading development projects in Rajkot district during the post-earthquake economic rebuilding phase in rural Gujarat. He also led the CSR at Honeywell - a global diversified technology-intensive manufacturing company with expertise in Avionics & Aerospace, Automation & Control, Automotive Engineering, and Specialty Materials. As the Lead for CSR, he supported a highly skilled and motivated corporate volunteer team to engage with communities. He encouraged 'talent volunteering' alongside 'time volunteering' and 'giving'; and supported engineer-volunteers to explore 'Technology-led Enablers' for the Bottom of Pyramid population.
Shafqat Hussain, Vth Batch student is currently State Consultant, Unicef, in Maharashtra. After completing the course from EDI joined Don Bosco and spent about 7 months to support them with LogFrame Analysis, Watershed Development and Rural Entrepreneurship. He later joined Sarathi Development Foundation (non-government organization having its headquarters in Lucknow) and worked in a reproductive child health project and moved on to a state level position for coordinating Garima Abhiyan - an advocacy initiative to eliminate the practice of manual scavenging in the state. After that he led village planning initiative in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh for Unicef and in 2007 he was included in the national pool of trainers in Unicef, New Delhi.
Falguni Lokhil, VIth batch student, currently working as Manager Social Process with Aga Khan Rural Support Programs ( India) and based at central office in Ahmedabad. She looks after Equity and Village Institution aspects. After completing the course she worked with ARAVALI in Rajasthan and was part of NGO assessment team for selecting partner for Rajasthan government to implement MPOWER (Mitigating Poverty in Western Rajasthan) project, an ambitious project of Rajasthan funded by IFAD. She considers her biggest achievement is to influence different stakeholders and convince them on including participatory development and gender equity objectives in the project implementation.
Amrita Varadarajan is currently working as a Development Consultant with Raman Development Consultants Private Limited (RDC) based out of Ahmedabad. She has been with RDC for two years and works on policy level issues with Government ministries and departments across the country. She is also engaged in different projects with international (bilateral and multilateral) donor agencies, national and international NGOs, CSR wings of corporates etc. She thoroughly enjoys her work and finds it interesting and challenging She says "I have EDII to thank for this great opportunity to work with RDC, since I received it through EDI's placement process"
Prasanta Biswal, VIIIth batch student is currently working with SELCO India as Senior Manager - MISSION. He joined SELCO after completing course in NGO Management from EDI in 2006. He currently works as Manager – Innovations. He believes that the opportunity with SELCO came his way because of the internship on Solar Entrepreneurship with Auroville Renewable Energy, Pondicherry during EDI. At SELCO, he was given the responsibility to design and start a new Innovation department to focus on financial, technology and process innovation to make energy services accessible for the poor. Currently he heads a new department called 'MISSION' being responsible to keep SELCO on its original mission track and take it further down in the economic pyramid. He has been involved in many initiatives of the organisation including World bank Development Marketplace Project, establishing Innovation Center for the Poor and SELCO`s other initiatives in states like Bihar. His work has taken him to many places including overseas to Ghana to attend International Development Design Summit (IDDS) and also accompanied SELCO's Managing Director Dr. Harish Hande to Manila in 2011 who was awarded Ramon Magsaysay Award.
